Hellene Henrikson Fund

In 2018, Hellene Henrikson, a longtime member of Lutheran Church of the Foothills, left a bequest to fund non-profits that assist those in need. Throughout her life, she generously supported her church as well as many other non-profit organizations in the Tucson area, and she wished that her generosity would continue after her passing.

In 2019, the congregation voted to establish the Hellene Henrikson Fund Board to distribute the entire amount of the gift. The Board, assisted by CFSA, funds grant applications in the spring and fall of each year. In the spring, the Board participates in the CFSA’s CORE Grants and reviews grant proposals that focus on a selected theme. CFSA makes site visits and knows the organizations that apply for the CORE Grants.

In addition to our partnership with CFSA, the Hellene Henrikson Board matches the congregation’s giving to each monthly community service emphasis.

Other Ministries

Each month our Community Service Team identifies a specific need, local or worldwide, and encourages giving in some way to that ministry. Click on Newsletter in the Engage menu at the top of this page to read about this month’s community service in the latest edition of “Weekly Footnotes.”

We also encourage those in our worshiping community to participate on their own in serving God through their support of various organizations throughout our community and world. Visit our church building to look at the display wall in our Activities Room showing the many ways individuals at Lutheran Church of the Foothills participate in sharing God’s blessings.
