Read & Yak Book Discussion: May 23, 12:00 noon
What does it mean to be an American? Who is an American? In You Are Not American: Citizenship Stripping from Dred Scott to the Dreamers, law professor Amanda Frost exposes the oft-hidden history of discrimination and xenophobia in the United States and provides readers with a crisp, concise legal history. It is an important reminder of the fragility of our citizenship—even for those born in the United States. Join our Read & Yak discussion on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 12:00p to 1:30p as we gather in person in the Activities Room and online via Zoom. Click here to join the Zoom discussion. Meeting ID: 822 7558 0676. Passcode: 844657.
All are welcome at Read & Yak
You do not need to be a participant at Lutheran Church of the Foothills to enjoy the Read & Yak book discussions. Some participants join us via Zoom from out of state or even from home in Tucson. We meet from 12:00p to 1:30p on the fourth Saturday of the month, including during the summer. Feel free to bring your lunch to enjoy as we discuss the book for that month. Even if you haven’t finished reading the book, you are welcome to join the discussion.
