Everyone is Welcome at Read & Yak Book Discussion: September 26, 12:00 noon

You are invited to participate in the Read & Yak discussion of This Tender Land, by William Kent Krueger, on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. We’ll gather in person in the Activities Room and online via Zoom. Click here to join the Zoom discussion.  Meeting ID: 822 7558 0676.  Passcode: 844657.

Over the course of one unforgettable summer, four orphan vagabonds journey into the unknown, crossing paths with others who are adrift, from struggling farmers and traveling faith healers to displaced families and lost souls of all kinds. With the feel of a modern classic, This Tender Land is an enthralling, bighearted epic that shows how the magnificent American landscape connects us all, haunts our dreams, and makes us whole.

All are welcome at Read & Yak
From January through November we meet in the Activities Room on the fourth Saturday of each month at 12:00p to 1:30p. Some participants join via Zoom from out of state or even from home in Tucson. Feel free to bring your lunch to enjoy as we yak. Even if you haven’t finished reading the book for the month, you are encouraged to join the discussion. You and your guests are always welcome; you do not need to be participants at Lutheran Church of the Foothills.

To receive calendar reminders for Read & Yak gatherings, email Holly Hope at hollyhopeaz@gmail.com (please include “Yak” somewhere in the subject line).

Upcoming discussions

  • October 24: A Principled Stand, by Gordon Hirabayashi (memoir).

  • November 21: Going Back to Bisbee, by Richard Shelton (non-fiction).
