Join the Inclusivity Team for June Pride and Racial Justice
June offers an opportunity to reflect on the experiences of traditionally marginalized brothers and sisters in Christ, challenging us to live out God's call to love, inclusion, and justice in our daily lives. This month, we celebrate Pride and the LGBTQIA+ community, and we celebrate our 20th anniversary as a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) Congregation. As an RIC congregation, LCF is dedicated to advocating for the full welcome, inclusion, and equity of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual/aromantic (LGBTQIA+) Lutherans in all aspects of the life of their Church, congregations, and community. The Grand Canyon Synod of the ELCA is currently discussing the process of becoming a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) Synod. There are currently 34 RIC Synods throughout the United States and Canada.
This month, we also recognize June 17th as the ELCA Emanuel Nine Commemoration and Day of Repentance, and we recognize Juneteenth. Please join us in learning, reflecting, and opening our hearts to live out our LCF mission of welcoming, celebrating, and advocating for all of God’s beloved children. Information about the Emanuel Nine and what it means to be an RIC congregation are displayed in the church narthex. There are also goodies to take to show your Pride, and books to consider reading to further educate ourselves on topics of LGBTQIA+ justice and racial justice. The books on the table are Pastor Naomi’s, if you would like to borrow one, please let her know so she knows where each book is going.
