Welcome Iskashitaa Special Guests June 21

Join Dr. Barbara Eiswerth, Executive Director of Iskashitaa, and her guest in the Activities Room immediately after the June 21 worship service for a brief presentation about the Iskashitaa Refugee Network. Learn about the effects of the federal cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and state-level policy changes affecting local refugees and what you can do to help.

A display of jams and jellies made from locally gleaned fruit will also be on display and available for purchase. All proceeds will help stock the food pantry at Iskashitaa. Visit the IskaShop on the Iskashitaa website for even more refugee-made products. Your purchases help refugees.

You can also help refugees who are food-insecure by contributing to the Iskashitaa staple food drive during the month of June. Here is a list of items to be collected:

  • bags of onions, potatoes, apples

  • sugar

  • flour

  • salt

  • bags of dried beans, lentils

  • cooking oil

  • crunchy peanut butter

  • Tahini (sesame paste)

  • nuts, shelled or unshelled peanuts

  • honey

  • dates

  • whole frozen chickens (make plans with Iskashitaa ahead of time for delivery)

  • ground coffee

  • black tea

  • seasonings: garlic or onion powder, pepper, chili flakes

Look for the box and display in the Narthex. For more information, contact Barb Warrilow or Beth Daum.
