TIHAN’s Poz Café: Donations Due February 15
Thank you for continuing to bring in your generous, compassionate donations of personal care items for the Poz Café packages distributed by Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network (TIHAN). These packages will be given to the guests who attend Poz Café on Thursday, February 19, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. People from Lutheran Church of the Foothills have been serving and sponsoring at Poz Café since it started in 1999. Since the first Poz Café, over 25,000 care packages and 35,000 meals have been served.
Additional donations are needed by February 19
We are very close to providing enough personal care items to fill the care packages for February’s Poz Café guests. We still need:
one-quart (32 fl. oz.) bottles of bleach, or bleach wipes
bottles of liquid hand soap
shaving cream
$15 gift cards to Target, Walmart or Fry’s
Volunteers are needed to help set up, welcome and serve the guests and clean up (volunteer hours are 9:30am to 1:30pm at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 1200 N. Campbell Ave., just north of Speedway Blvd.)
Monetary donations to help purchase the food for the luncheon (make checks payable to “Lutheran Church of the Foothills” and note your contribution is for “TIHAN Luncheon.”)
Pick up a shopping list and sign up to be a volunteer on the table in the narthex. All items should be brought to church by Sunday, February 15, and may be placed on or under the table.
Are you curious to learn more about TIHAN?
On Tuesday, February 6, from 1:00p to 3:30p there will be a volunteer orientation at the TIHAN office, 1200 North Campbell Avenue (Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church). Please call TIHAN at 520-299-6647 to register or check the website at tihan.org.
TIHAN (Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network) has been providing community resources and caring support to people with HIV for over 30 years. The most popular and effective program is Poz Café, the monthly lunch and social time for people living with HIV/AIDS.
Again, thank you for your generosity and compassion towards people living with HIV or AIDS.
