Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest: Community Service Emphasis for November and December

The holiday season is fast approaching, and during November and December, the Community Service emphasis will be collaborating with Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest (LSS-SW) to collect Christmas gifts and donations for our neighbors in need. Deadline for all donations is December 14.

Starting in November and through December 14, we are collecting men’s and women’s slippers and bathrobes for LSS-SW’s Aging and Disabilities Services. This division of LSS-SW helps a sizable group of elders, numbering nearly 500, who lack robes and slippers to keep them warm and comfortable during the cold winter months. LSS-SW will also gratefully accept and distribute new toys to refugee children in Tucson aged 0-18 years.

The deadline for bringing purchases to the church is Sunday, December 14. You can also scan the QR code at right for direct access to the Amazon LSS-SW Wishlist, and have items sent directly to LSS-SW.

As always, monetary donations are gratefully received by LSS-SW online at their website, or make checks payable to “Lutheran Church of the Foothills” and note “Community Service” in the memo line. Use the Community Service envelopes on the display table in the Narthex and place your donations in the offering basket or mail them to the church. You can also give online by using the QR code in the Sunday worship bulletin or the Giving page on our website. Finally, any loose cash placed in the offering basket is automatically designated for the current Community Service emphasis.

Finally, on November 9, come and learn more about Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest from Connie Phillips, Chief Executive Officer and President, as she delivers the Sunday sermon. Immediately after the service, she will be available to answer questions during the fellowship time in the Activities Room.

Watch for more information to come.

With thanksgiving,

The Community Services Team
